Longer Lashes - Grow Lashes With Latisse

From time immemorial women have felt the need to look better and more attractive, both for their own satisfaction and to look good in the eyes of the opposite sex. One of the key features in attractiveness has been the eyes. And a major way to make the eyes look more attractive has been to get longer eyelashes. Longer lashes have a tendency to give one the come-hither look so stimulating to the opposite sex, especially if combined with a smile, a direct gaze at the member of the opposite sex, and a slower than usual blink or flutter of the lashes.
Up to recently, the only ways to get longer lashes for those who were unfortunate enough to have only short eyelashes, few eyelashes or none at all, were to
1. use mascara to try to lengthen whatever was remaining, often resulting in dirty, streaky, clumpy lashes.
2. stick artificial long lashes onto the eyelid, either individually or as bands.
3. use eyelash extensions, which are individually applied to each lash to extend the length and width of each lash.
4. use natural home remedies, such as olive oil or castor nightly on the lashes
Now a new FDA-approved scientifically proven method of producing thicker, darker and longer lashes has surfaced. On December 26, 2008, Allergan Inc. announced the introduction of Latisse (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution 0.03%) as the approved drug to grow lashes. Application of this product once daily to the base of the upper eyelashes allows the development of longer lashes in as little as 8 weeks.
Bimatoprost was originally used to reduce eyeball pressure in persons with open angle glaucoma. It was noticed that patients on this drug tended to grow lashes that were longer, thicker and darker. Further research in this direction resulted in the development of Latisse.
Bimatoprost, the active ingredient in Latisse, is a prostaglandin analog, and binds to prostaglandin receptors in the hair root, thus stimulating the development and regrowth of the hair follicle. This results in an increase of the percentage of hairs in the growth phase of the hair follicle, as well as extending the duration of this growth phase. In simple layman’s language, it simply means that bimatoprost makes you grow more, and longer lashes that last longer!
This product Latisse is available only on prescription, and is expected to rack up sales of over USD500 million per year worldwide, a reflection of the demand for products which will improve the growth of longer lashes.
